Kevin McKiernan has served as principal of North Hills High School since July 2019.

Prior to North Hills, McKiernan was principal of West Allegheny High School from 2017 to 2019, academic principal from 2015 to 2017 and assistant principal from 2009 to 2015.

While at West Allegheny, McKiernan was instrumental in leading significant academic reform to ensure every graduate is prepared for a career and/or college, and has a viable post-secondary plan. He also increased student access to and success in Advanced Placement courses and expanded academic opportunities through dual college enrollment and access to Parkway West Career and Technology.

Before West Allegheny, McKiernan worked as a social studies teacher at Northgate Middle/Senior High School from 2003 to 2009. During his time at Northgate, he was the head varsity boys’ basketball coach and twice named WPIAL AA Section 4 Coach of the Year.

McKiernan received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College and Master of Education in School Administration and K-12 Principal Certification from California University of Pennsylvania.

He lives in Ross Township with his wife, Lauren, and their three children, Finnegan, Keelin and Brigid.

Margaux Dey joined North Hills as assistant principal at North Hills High School in January 2025.

She came to North Hills from the Ithaca City School District in New York where she has held various titles since 2018 including simultaneously serving as an interim district administrator, program director and communications coordinator. Prior to, she spent more than eight years as a high school English and drama teacher and also directed several theater and drama productions, taught improv classes, and coached mock trial teams to country championships.

Dey is a Pittsburgh native and graduate of Fox Chapel Area High School.

Ms. Dey holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from SUNY Cortland, a Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University, and a Bachelor of Science in English and Textual Studies from Syracuse University. She’s also earned certifications as both a school administrator and English teacher in Pennsylvania and New York.
