Fall sports weekly recap: September 15-20

Fall is officially here, and several fall sports teams have their sights set on postseason competition. Here is where our teams stand entering the last full week of September:

Girls' Soccer

The girls' soccer team went 0-2 last week, dropping games against Pine-Richland and Seneca Valley. So far this fall, the girls have compiled a record of 2-6-1.

Boys' Soccer

Boys' soccer went 1-2 last week with losses to Pine-Richland and Seneca Valley while beating Knoch. The boys are now 7-4-1 this season (1-3-1 in section play) and currently occupy the final playoff spot in Section 3.

Girls' Tennis

The girls' tennis team officially punched its ticket to the playoffs last week. This will mark the program's first trip to the postseason since 2008.

Additionally, senior Ellie Kim represented North Hills at the WPIAL Girls' Tennis Singles Championships. While she was eliminated in the first round, she had a great run through section and WPIAL singles!

Golf

The varsity golf team earned a section win against Ambridge last week before taking on the WPIAL Section Qualifiers. There, senior Luke Kaylor shot an 81, which was good enough to earn a spot in the WPIAL 3A Boys' Golf Individual Championships First Round this week!

Cross Country

The varsity cross country teams raced once last week, taking on Mars and Butler. Both the boys and girls emerged 1-1 on the day, defeating Mars and losing to Butler.

Girls' Volleyball

Girls' volleyball posted an 0-2 record last week, losing to North Allegheny and Pine-Richland. With an overall record of 4-5, the girls will look for their first win in section play this week.

Football

Varsity football hit the road on Friday to take on Fox Chapel in a must-have section showdown. The Indians struck early and often on their way to a 55-7 victory. North Hills is now back to .500 in the section with a 1-1 record.

3:30 - MS Girls' Volleyball vs North Allegheny (MS Annex Gym)
