Fall sports weekly recap: September 22-27
Matthew McGinnis

October is right around the corner, and the fall sports season is in its second half. Here's an update on the teams at North Hills:

Girls' Soccer

Girls' soccer went 0-2 last week, losing games against North Allegheny and Penn Trafford. The girls now have an overall record of 2-8-1 this season.

Boys' Soccer

The boys' soccer team's lone game last week was a 3-2 loss on the road against North Allegheny. The Indians led 2-1 in the second half, but the Tigers stormed back to steal the win. North Hills is now 7-5-1 this fall.

Girls' Tennis

The girls' tennis team wrapped up its section schedule last week and finished with a 5-3 record. That 5-3 mark is good for third place in the section, and the girls will learn this week who their opponent will be in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs.

In addition, seniors Ellie Kim and Adelaide Seigworth earned second place in the section doubles tournament and earned a spot in the WPIAL Girls' Tennis Doubles Championships this week.

Golf

The varsity golf team concluded the 2025 season last week with a senior day match against Pine-Richland. The team finished in fourth place in its section this fall.

Senior Luke Kaylor competed individually last week in the WPIAL 3A Boys' Golf Individual Championships First Round. His score of 85 did not qualify him for the final round.

Thanks to the varsity golf team for a great season!

Cross Country

Varsity cross country hosted its lone home meet of the 2025 regular season last week, taking on North Allegheny and Seneca Valley. Both the boys and girls lost to each opponent.

Then over the weekend, the teams competed in the Youthtowne Clash. The varsity girls came in second place in Class 3A, while the boys' JV team came in first overall. Varsity medalists included James Dunlap, Jackson Hill, Carter Schram, Kayla Flanigan, and Ayla Werner.

Girls' Volleyball

Girls' volleyball went 0-2 last week, with losses coming against Seneca Valley and Shaler Area. The team now owns a 4-7 overall record this season.

Football

The varsity football team returned home last week to take on Norwin. North Hills went down early but came back to take a halftime lead. In the end, Norwin ultimately earned the win and dropped North Hills to 1-5 on the season.

This week's home and away events can be found on the North Hills Athletics website.
