On Thursday night, both the boys' and girls' basketball teams punched their tickets to the WPIAL playoffs.
The girls' team hit the road to face Woodland Hills, needing a win to reach the WPIAL postseason for the second time in three seasons. North Hills earned a 66-36 victory to clinch a top-four spot in Class 6A Section 1 and the playoff berth that comes with it.
Then later in the night, the boys' team hosted Pine-Richland with the same clinching scenario as the girls: win and get in. The Indians took down the Rams 75-54 to qualify for the postseason for the sixth consecutive year. With one section game remaining, the team can finish as high as second in Class 6A Section 1.
Both North Hills squads will learn their seeding, opponents, and play dates when the full brackets for the WPIAL basketball playoffs are released on Monday, February 9.
