For the second year in a row, the varsity girls' tennis team is excelling in the regular season and on its way to the WPIAL team playoffs.

North Hills opened its section schedule with a perfect 5-0 record, defeating Moon, Montour, Butler, Shaler Area, and Seneca Valley. Those five victories ensure the girls can finish no worse than tied for fourth, and with the top four in each section qualifying for the 3A postseason, the Indians are locked into the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Reaching back-to-back postseasons is an impressive feat for the girls' tennis program, which made only two appearances from 2001-2024. North Hills lost 4-1 to Greater Latrobe last year in the first round and will look to improve upon that result when the team playoffs begin next month.

A loss last week to Mars puts North Hills at 5-1 in the section entering play this week, with Pine-Richland and North Allegheny still on the schedule. Those remaining matches will determine the final section standings ahead of the postseason bracket reveal.

Congratulations, girls, and good luck with the rest of this season!
