North Hills honored for commitment to Do No Harm, Photo to be displayed in Times Square

LaMont Lyons
On August 6, Dr. Donald Sheffield officially dedicated his book, "Bringing America Greatness: A Message for the 250th Anniversary — 'Speaking Virtue to Leadership,'" to the North Hills School District in recognition of the district’s commitment to fostering belonging, respect and leadership.
North Hills incorporates Dr. Sheffield’s Do No Harm message and the 4 As — Accepted, Acknowledged, Appreciated and Paid Attention to — into its work with students, staff and the community.
A group photo was taken to commemorate the dedication. Participants included Dr. Sheffield; Superintendent Dr. Patrick Mannarino; Board of Education President Allison Mathis; Director of Student and Community Engagement LaMont Lyons; current student leaders; and North Hills alumni from the Classes of 2025 and 2026. The students and alumni represented the Diversity Club, Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) and other mentoring groups.
The commemorative photo will be displayed in Times Square in New York City in recognition of Dr. Sheffield’s book and the district’s commitment to the Do No Harm movement. The display will highlight Dr. Sheffield’s work, the Do No Harm message and North Hills’ efforts to promote belonging, respect and inclusion.
Through this work, the district continues its focus on ensuring students feel accepted, acknowledged, appreciated and paid attention to, while encouraging leadership rooted in empathy, integrity and purpose.
