The North Hills High School and North Hills Middle School jazz bands will host their annual Mardi Gras celebration at the high school on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. with performance to begin at 6 p.m. in the high school gym.

General admission is $7, students and seniors (55+) are $5, and children under age 5 are free. (Cash payments only.)

Admission includes all the delicious pie you can eat plus a spectacular night of jazz music with performances by our Middle School Jazz Band, High School Jazz II, High School Saxophone Quintet, and High School Jazz Band.

There will also be a full concession stand along with a 50/50 and basket raffles.

All proceeds support North HIlls instrumental music and the North Hills Commission Series.

The North Hills High School Bands have maintained a commission series since 1965, making it the longest-running series of its kind in the United States. The series has resulted in the creation of 60 original works for the band world. Works from the series have been recorded by the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra with Frederick Fennel conducting, the Showa Wind Symphony, D.C. service bands, the University of North Texas Wind Symphony, and college ensembles throughout the country. They have also been featured in the series, Teaching Music Through Performance in Band, and the commission series is referenced several times in Frank Battisti's The New Winds of Change.
