Softball season ends in PIAA first round

Softball season ends in PIAA first round
Matthew McGinnis

On Monday, North Hills softball made its third appearance in the PIAA softball tournament in the last five years when the team traveled to Red Land in round one.

The Indians, who finished fourth in the WPIAL this season, faced the Red Land Patriots, the champions of District 3. In their bid for an upset, it was North Hills who got on the board first. They led 1-0 in the second inning.

Unfortunately, the Patriots found their groove from there and rattled off eight unanswered runs. In the end, Red Land advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals via an 8-1 win over North Hills.

With that, the 2025 softball season has come to an end. From a 15-win regular season that included a victory over eventual WPIAL champion Shaler, to an exciting run through the WPIAL playoffs, this team has made this season memorable.

Congratulations to our girls' softball team on an incredible spring!
