We're over halfway through April, and the spring sports playoff picture is starting to take shape. Here is where the teams at North Hills stand entering the week of April 20.

Softball

Varsity softball went 2-1 last week, earning key section victories over Mars and Fox Chapel. With three section games remaining on the schedule, the girls currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in Class 5A Section 1.

Baseball

The varsity baseball team went 0-3 in its series against Seneca Valley last week. With a break from section play coming up, the boys will look to get back in the win column when they host Hampton on Thursday.

Girls' Lacrosse

The girls' lacrosse team put together its second consecutive perfect week, going 3-0 and averaging over 15 goals scored per game. The team has now won six straight games and owns a 6-3 overall record this season.

Boys' Lacrosse

The boys' lacrosse team went 0-2 last week, losing to Butler and Canon-McMillan. The loss moves the team's record to 0-9 so far this spring. Monday's senior night game against Allderdice will be the boys' next chance to snap their losing streak.

Flag Football

With two games in two days last week, the girls' flag football team posted a 1-1 record. The girls defeated Hampton 32-18 before losing 26-24 to the Ellis School. Overall, the team is 6-2 and in contention to reach the postseason, which requires a top-four section finish.

Boys' Tennis

The boys' tennis team went 1-2 last week, with its win coming over Plum, 5-0. In addition to their matches, the boys competed in the section doubles tournament on Tuesday, where junior Luke Mayer and sophomore JP Werner advanced past the first round before falling in round two.
Boys' Volleyball

The boys' volleyball team is heating up, as they were a perfect 3-0 last week. In total, the team has won four games in a row and now owns a 6-4 record on the season.

Track

The varsity track and field team ran in the Slippery Rock Invitational on Friday and brought home five gold medals. Winners included the girls' 4X400 relay, Emerson Schall (javelin), the boys' 4x400 relay, the boys' 4X800 relay, and Cody Miller (400M).
