The winter weather has slowed the pace of the winter sports season, but nevertheless, the push for the playoffs continues. Here's a look at the results from last week's action:

Girls' Basketball

Girls' basketball started last week with a 42-33 win over Mt. Lebanon before falling on the road against Butler. North Hills is now 6-9 overall, and its 3-3 section record is currently good for third place in Class 6A Section 1.

Boys' Basketball

The boys' basketball team posted a 2-1 record last week, earning wins against Butler and Penn Hills and falling by three points on the road to Seneca Valley. The Indians remain in a playoff position in a tightly contested Class 6A Section 1.

Wrestling

The varsity wrestlers hosted Central Catholic last week with a chance to clinch a second consecutive section championship. The Indians prevailed and claimed the Class 3A Section 6 title for the second winter in a row.

As a result, North Hills earned its spot in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs, which will begin on Wednesday. The Indians will travel to Connellsville High School to square off against Kiski Area.

Swimming & Diving

The girls' swimming and diving team went 0-2 last week to fall to 5-6 overall this season. Likewise, the boys went 0-2, dropping their overall record to 4-7.

Gymnastics

The varsity gymnastics team has wrapped up its regular season schedule. The WPIAL team and individual championships will be held on February 7 at Moon High School.
Indoor Track

The indoor track and field team did not compete this week. The team is scheduled to compete in its third meet of the season on Saturday, February 7, at Youngstown State.

Unified Bocce

Unified bocce hosted Hampton last week in its second home match of the winter. In an exciting match, the Talbots emerged victorious. North Hills will host its third and final home match on February 3.
