The first week back from the holiday break is in the books, and the winter season is moving right along. Here's a look at the last week of action for our teams:

Girls' Basketball

The girls' basketball team went 1-1 last week, losing to Pine-Richland before earning an important section win over North Allegheny. Overall, the girls are 4-7 this season and own a 2-2 section record, which is good for third place.

Boys' Basketball

The boys' basketball team extended its winning streak with a perfect 2-0 record last week. North Hills beat Fox Chapel and North Allegheny to improve to 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the section. The team's winning streak is at seven games entering this week.

In addition to the team's success, junior Nathan Schanbacher eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career, becoming just the sixth player in program history to reach that milestone. Congratulations, Nathan!

Wrestling

Varsity wrestling traveled to Penn Hills last week and picked up a dominant victory. Then over the weekend, the team wrestled in the Burgettstown Tournament and captured third place, led by individual third-place finishers Brady Rohaly and Carter Morvay.

Swimming & Diving

Last week's lone swim meet was a home meet against Mars that saw the girls' team earn a 99-82 win, while the boys fell 100-76. The girls come into this week with a 3-4 record, and the boys own a 2-5 record.

Gymnastics

The varsity gymnastics team wrapped up its regular season schedule with a meet against Baldwin and Thomas Jefferson. North Hills was outscored by both opponents and finds itself in seventh place in the section.

Indoor Track

The indoor track team competed for the first time this winter when they traveled to Youngstown State over the weekend. Top-five finishers for North Hills included Megan Bolinda (5th, 3200M), the girls' 4X200 relay (5th), James Dunlap (3rd, 800M), Evan Lausch (5th, 3200M), the boys' 4X200 relay (4th), Brody Diehl (4th, long jump), Logan Berry (5th, triple jump), and Dominic Monroe (3rd, shot put).

Unified Bocce

Unified bocce took on Shaler Area last week and emerged victorious, defeating the Titans 3-1. The team will open its home schedule on Tuesday when it hosts North Allegheny.
