MLB Opening Day Predictions

 

It’s the best time of the year to be a baseball fan: opening day is upon us! With opening day on the horizon, it’s time to make predictions about some of the marquee opening day matchups this year. Coming off an eventful World Baseball Classic, the MLB looks to capitalize on that and deliver an eventful opening day. 

 

The first game we’ll talk about is the New York Yankees vs. the San Francisco Giants. The Yankees are coming off an offseason where they didn’t reinvent the wheel and instead stuck with what kind of worked in the playoffs last year. The Giants, on the other hand, after failing expectations last year, decided to go all in and added outfielder Harrison Bader to their lineup, among many other players, to push them into Wild Card contention this year. Overall, just by how good the Yankees are, I got them winning this one in a close game. 

 

The second game we’ll talk about is the Pittsburgh Pirates vs the New York Mets. The Pirates have completely changed their entire team from what it was last year. From what was one of the worst teams in the league, the Pirates have added so many new players, key players who you would want on a playoff contending team. The New York Mets have also completely changed their team from years past when they got multiple all star level talents via free agency or trades during the offseason. Overall, the Pirates are probably going to have Paul Skenes start the game. I got the Pirates winning this one. 

 

There are so many other games that we did not cover, but these were just some of the best matchups. There’s three other games going on that day, but they’re not the marquee matchups that we covered here. The MLB and baseball in general is back in full swing, and the season is ready to throw its first pitch.
