NHHS Drama Club Showcase, International Thespian Society Induction to be held April 24

The North Hills High School Drama Club is putting together their annual Student Showcase this Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. Come out and see some outstanding performances from grades 9-12 and an upbeat finale number with a fan-favorite theme, “The Greatest Showman!” The club will also be recognizing its International Thespian Society (ITS) seniors and new inductees during intermission.

The annual student showcase is put together by all members of the Drama Club and is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes long. The event is free, so please come support. 

Director/choreographer Ms. Sarazen supervises all of the student-run rehearsals and her favorite part about Showcase is that “it allows opportunities for everyone to shine.”

“Students who may not have had time to commit to the larger scale productions can share their talents in this two week long production,” she explained.

Ms. Sarazen also really enjoys that the show is entirely student run and student designed, adding that there are Drama Club members in roles traditionally held by adult staff. 

This year, the student directors are Emma Collin (Vocal Director) and Harlow Huber (Choreographer). 

Emma is a junior at North Hills and her favorite part about Drama Club is the cast read-throughs before each performance.

She decided to become this year's vocal director because she believes “Connecting with music and telling a story is, for me, the pinnacle of theatre.” 

As an ITS member, Emma has been selected to be an officer for her senior year, taking on the role of President of the Drama Club.

“Making sure everyone feels seen and heard has always been something I do without thinking. I want students to come to Drama Club and see it as an environment where they can thrive and express themselves,” she said. “As president, it is imperative to me that I make all students feel they are in a safe place to make mistakes and learn from everything. I am incredibly honored to be named President of the Drama Club, and I can say with full confidence this is an opportunity I will not take for granted!“ 

Harlow is a sophomore and got the opportunity to step into the role of Dance Captain this year. She choreographed the finale number to the song “Come Alive” from “The Greatest Showman” and said, “My favorite part is probably the end when we all come together and do the main chorus and also some moves inspired from the movie. I think it’s just really nice to see everyone dance together, and it looks fabulous.” 

In addition to night’s performances, students will be inducted into the International Thespian Society during intermission.

The International Thespian Society, or ITS, is a great program for theatre kids around the world. Through ITS, students have access to scholarships, festivals, and employment opportunities in all fields of theatre. 

Mrs. Sarazan explained, “Additionally, students in our Troupe 908, have the chance to be officers their senior year and earn graduation honors and cords for both academic and theatrical achievements.”

Come support the North Hills Drama Club’s last performance of the 2025-2026 school year and celebrate the ITS members. It’s sure to be a show-stopper!
