The struggles of finding a roommate

The struggles of finding a roommate

I think one thing all seniors can collectively agree on is the struggles of finding a roommate for college. It feels like there is so much pressure to pick the right choice, especially because so many people say that your roommate can make or break your freshman experience.

The awkwardness of trying to talk to someone online who you've never met before is such a strange feeling. You don't want to come across as desperate, and you also want to be honest with them about your personal lifestyle.

Not only that, but you're also making assumptions about people based off of a few photos that they have posted on the meet page. It feels judgemental assuming someone's entire personality based off of one photo.

When someone says “I usually go to bed pretty late,” does that mean they go to bed at 11pm or 3 am? When someone says “they like having alone time,” do they mean just a few minutes of it or do they never want you in the dorm? You want to find someone you're compatible with, but you also don't want to miss any red flags they may have either.

Hopefully everyone that's reading this is able to find a roommate that they think is a good match for them! Even if you don't have the best roommate experience, I believe that there is so much more to your freshman year than your roommate experience!
